I really want to have a funny story to accompany this DIY winking eye pumpkin. It’s such a cutie, it deserves a good story.
But, stories don’t always come when you want them to. Especially when you’re stressed because of lots of technical bloggy conundrums and you’re running late to work and the place is a mess and you have to dash to the store for cat food AND you just can’t seem to plan ahead even after three years of blogging.
So with no ado whatsoever, I give you an easy, 30-minute Halloween pumpkin decorating idea, complete with printable template:
Yup, she’s a little looker and she knows it. The best part about this pumpkin project is that I did the hard work for you. You know I will never expect you to draw, I like you too much for that. Just print and cut out the template below and get crafting.
Steps aren’t really necessary for this DIY but I made them anyways. Here we go.
DIY Winking Eye Pumpkin
Skill Level: Easy. If you can trace and cut, you are good.
Time: 30 minutes, plus drying time if you choose to paint the pumpkin.
What you need:
+ pumpkin, real or craft*
+ white and black craft paint*, optional but cute for a little “pop”
+ paint brushes*, also optional
+ scissors*
+ craft knife*
*AFFILIATE LINKS. THIS MEANS IF YOU PURCHASE, I WILL EARN A SMALL COMMISSION AT NO EXTRA CHARGE TO YOU, WHICH IS PRETTY SWEET BECAUSE IT HELPS ME PAY BLOGGING BILLS, SO THANK YOU! I WILL ONLY LINK TO PRODUCTS I HAVE USED OR WOULD USE MYSELF, PINKY PROMISE.
What you do:
step one – (not pictured) Paint your pumpkin! Or don’t, it’s up to you.
step two – While the pumpkin is drying, print and cut out the eye template. If you have it, print the template onto cardstock, this will make it easier for you to cut out. You will need to use a craft knife to cut out the white part of the eyeball.
step three – Trace the cut-out pieces onto the back of the contact paper, and cut it again.
step four – Apply the contact paper to the pumpkin. Stand back and admire. Repeat as desired.
