Worry is a Misuse of Your Imagination || Quote by Dan Zadra, print by Roaring Softly Illustration via Etsy

Yesterday I found myself balking at the amount of paint-related projects I’ve taken on.

We have a narrow painting window here in New England—lacking a climate-controlled indoor work area, I have to squeeze all such projects into the brief and unstable season known as “spring.” Not easy when the temperature can fluctuate 40º in one day!

But Pinterest came to the rescue with these inspiring words: worry is a misuse of imagination. So at least for today I’m going to breathe, put the frivolous worry aside, and imagine how great it will all look when it’s done.

What’s inspired you this week? Have a happy Friday!

  1. Whew, best of luck with pushing the worry aside. I feel like that’s something I really struggle with, especially when it comes to projects. Can’t wait to see what you come up with; I bet it’s going to be amazing!

  2. I pretty much worry about every single project I do. I worry about everything, really, It’s an awful habit of mine. Sometimes though, I try to trick myself into thinking that it’s excitement I’m actually feeling instead of worry. It works sometimes… haha! Agree with Rachel, I can’t imagine you making anything short of amazing. Excited to see!

    1. This must be a DIY-blogger affliction! Let’s all just remember that it’s only PROJECTS—if we mess up, we can start over, if it doesn’t work out, we can do something else. Sending you (and me) internet chill pills! (And, thank you—now I better make something amazing!) xoxo

  3. Yep. When worry creeps into my creative work, I try a zen-Jedi mind trick, and tell myself that I am not my work. It is the product of the creative process, and if this one doesn’t come out well, it will work itself out next time. Like you point out, we can always start over.

Anyway, like the other posts say, it will be amazing. Keep on keeping on.

  4. Deadlines always stress me out (or like a small window of time to do something like you have here) I would totally freak too, so I do not have much advice. But, my husband always says to me when I am a stress case- When have you NOT gotten it all done & it was not awesome. And he is right, especially about the awesome part 😉 I just never listen to him.

    1. Well it sounds like your husband is a great cheerleader! Thanks for commiserating with me. The other thing I do when I get a bit overwhelmed is just procrastinate–which is what I’ve been doing this week, and which has not helped at all! Oh well, I’ll listen to your husband. 🙂
