I’ve said often and loudly (and even in crafts) that my favorite thing about the holidays is all the food.
While that is still true—let’s be honest, nothing under the sun is better than mashed potatoes and gravy—I’m trying to be a bit more reflective this year.
Many people far more eloquent than me have said good things about pausing to give thanks. And, I just wrote a little bit about what I personally am thankful for in my last post. So rather than do a whole long thing, I’m just going to say: I’m so thankful to be part of this vibrant, creative, supportive community. Thank you, friends both in real life and online, for clicking, commenting, liking, and cheering me on!
This year my sister-in-law has asked that instead of smothering her children in gifts, we all give to a needy cause in their names. If you feel like celebrating the holidays in this way too, you can find a ranking of charitable organizations, and how they spend their funds, here at Charity Watchdog.
And yes, we’ll probably get my nephews little gifts too. 🙂
Have a Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
I agree with what you said about mashed potatoes but I have those a few times a year. If someone printed out a statement to document the frequency of my mashed potato consumption… I think that it would resemble some official quarterly report. So, with that in mind, I counter your argument with passing stuffing around the table.

Fair enough! Can’t argue with another person’s stomach! 😉
