I really want to have a funny story to accompany this DIY winking eye pumpkin. It’s such a cutie, it deserves a good story.

But, stories don’t always come when you want them to. Especially when you’re stressed because of lots of technical bloggy conundrums and you’re running late to work and the place is a mess and you have to dash to the store for cat food AND you just can’t seem to plan ahead even after three years of blogging.

So with no ado whatsoever, I give you an easy, 30-minute Halloween pumpkin decorating idea, complete with printable template:

Black, White, and Wood Kitchen Inspiration

10.06.16

One of my favorite design bloggers once wrote, “I like all colors that are black or white.”

It stuck with me because I laughed. I am a person who likes all the colors, and who specifically dislikes the combination of black and white.

Funny how six years of a garishly painted rental can change your whole style.

I LIKE ALL COLORS THAT ARE BLACK OR WHITE. It’s like my mantra now.

I even like black and white together. Throw in some warm wood tones and a metallic or two and I’m sold. There is still plenty of color in my home, but it’s just in little wispsa pillow here, an art piece there. Even my wardrobe has shifted from what I like to call “vintage kitsch” to mostly neutrals. I’ve slowly become a person who limits the pink in her outfit to one piece at a time. Who am I even??

The point of it all is, after six years of living in a saturated yellow and blue kitchen, its days are finally numbered. I’m hoping — hoping — to get this mess painted this fall. We’ll see. Regardless, the future is looking much less colorful, in the best of ways.

Easy DIY Copper Inspiration Board

08.24.16

It’s no secret that I looooove me some copper.

Only replace “looooove” with “total and utter fanaticism,” that’s more accurate.

Obviously copper had to play a big part in my Scandinavian workspace, and when I discovered the wonders of copper foil, I knew it would be perfectly perfect to make an easy DIY copper inspiration board. Easy DIY Copper Inspiration Board

All you need to make this easy DIY copper inspiration board is a magnetic office board, glue, and copper foil (which is way cheaper than it sounds).

Scented DIYs to Try

06.10.16

Last December, a good friend and I went window shopping for lack of anywhere to sit in the local coffee shop, and ended up in a small boutique sniffing a scented candle for literally 20 minutes. We then both secretly went back and bought it for each other for Christmas, which made for a pretty entertaining gift exchange.

I tell you this because people LOVE scents. Ok not every people, but I do, and my friend Amanda does, and maybe you do too. So here’s some pretty, modern, simple scented DIYs you can make for your bestie/work wife/mom/each other.

And oh look, they’re all gorgeous too!

Grab some flower petals and essential oils, we're making scented DIYs today!

I do make my own general purpose cleaner out of vinegar and water, but that’s as far as I’ve ever gone towards making any of these things. What about you?

Alan and I are off to Vermont this weekend for our (very) belated honeymoon and I can’t wait to show you pictures of the cute lodge we’re staying at. And we’re going horseback riding! What’s in store for you this weekend?
