OMG you guys…two DIYs in one week!! What blog is this even!!
Ok, I’m REALLY trying to be more consistent. I could use your help with that actually. You see, comments are crack to us bloggers. Writing a blog is basically an endless, virtual form of show-and-tell, and you need the occasional “ooooo’s” and “aaahhhhh’s” to know that you’re making an impression.
Does that mean I am dependent on external validation and should discuss this with my therapist? Probably. Will blog comments still make me happy? Most definitely.
So please, show me some love and let me know what you think on this or any other post! It doesn’t have to be all praise, either, constructive criticism is totally welcome. Besides the rush I get from sharing and teaching others how to be more creative, I also write this blog for YOU! So what do YOU want to see more/less/differently? Let me know!!!
Back to today’s regularly scheduled program…this DIY embroidered monstera leaf print.
Yes, you can embroider onto cardstock! And NOOOO, you don’t have to have any experience in embroidery to make your own. This is actually my very first embroidery DIY.
Just remember kids, if I can wing it, you can wing it.
Hop on over to Curbly for the tutorial and the free printable template (did you think I’d leave you without a template??). I’m so delighted to share I’m now a contributor there! I’ve been a fan for years—it was one of the first DIY blogs I started reading, actually—and I’m thrilled to be on the team. Check out my other Curbly posts right here.
***Bonus project! Check out my friend Cat’s wicked adorable embroidered plant tee DIY. We both published plant embroidery projects in the same week, I guess plant minds think alike.

Comment time! I’d love to know, have you done any embroidery yourself? Would you give this project a whirl? Monstera leaves — still cool, or over?
If you’re looking for more DIY art ideas, I’ve got you, boo:
+ Loads of DIY art projects from my girl Amy at Delineate Your Dwelling!
Ah girl! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing my Easy Art in your GORGEOUS Monstera Leaf post. Piiiiiinned.
Why of course my dear!! Thank you for the pin love! xx
Love the embroidery leaf AND the ‘woven’ IKEA blanket too. Do you have a source for the gorgeous plant print shown next to the leaf???
Aww, thanks so much, that’s so sweet to hear! And why yes, I DO! The botanical mushroom print is by Amber Alexander and you can find it right here on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/91746855/woodland-archival-print-contemporary. Isn’t it gorgeous?? Thanks so much for reading! xx
As a fellow blogger, I get what you’re saying about comments. Sometimes I’m like, “Hellooo? Is anyone out there or even reading this??” when I publish something and no one responds. It’s difficult to motivate yourself to keep going without any feedback.
So I’m leaving you some: I love this project! I write for Curbly, too, so I saw it when it first went up, and I linked to it from my blog. Great work!
Awwww, thanks so much, Rachel! I love the love! I know, sometimes it’s like shouting into the void, especially for small bloggers like me. I so appreciate you taking the time to say hi, and also your kind words about the project! I had no idea you wrote for Curbly too, that’s awesome! xx
Definitely feel the shouting into the void pain ahah. Love this project- such an easy way to add more texture to an art collection 🙂
Haha it’s a hazard of blogging! Thank you so much, Cat, I had a lot of fun with this one! <3
